Yeah, th-the money is the motive

I’m Patrick, I’m 35 and I live in the North-West of England. I work for a global plastics manufacturer / supplier. I’m not married (yet..) but living with my partner and I’m probably getting too old for this **** :-D

How long have you owned this car?
6 years now!

Is there anything unique about the history of this car?
Nothing I know about …

What other cars did you consider?
I’d already owned a mk4 1.8t which I sold in 2002 due to the circumstances at the time. I bought a mk3 VR which I knew I’d only run around until I could get another mk4. This is it.

What was your objective with this car?
Clean, simple and sits right.

What tuning style would you describe this car as?
OEM+

Who helped you build this car?
Just myself, and my 2 good friends – Adam and Steven. Huge thanks to them both.

What makes your car special?
Although it’s a fairly generic look as far as mk4 tweeking goes, where I live and drive, it’s the only one like it ;)

What is your favorite part/feature/function?
I just like the way it looks as a package. Somehow I stumbled on a good combination.

Who or what inspired the direction of modifications on this car?
Years of going to VW shows and gawping at pics on the internet helped me out here, definitely.

What don’t you like about this car?
The color. When I first went looking, it HAD to be black but I’ve grown tired of it in the last couple of years. I always wanted Silverstone Grey but it was never an option in the UK.

What was your biggest obstacle in building this car?
Motivation and money – both in equal measure.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how satisfied are you with the outcome of this project?
7.. ish.. perhaps 8 on a good day. There’s definitely room for improvement.

What would you do to the car if money were no object?
Color change and tidy up under the bonnet.

Who has been your biggest critic of this project?
Myself, definitely! I can pick fault on almost every bit of the car.

Who gets to drive this car?
Anyone. Fancy a go?

If your car had a motto, what would it be?
Slow progress. ..

If you had to name your car, what would you name it?
haha :-D I’ve never named any of my cars, is that bad?

What one word best describes your car?
Pat’s
