My name is Jamie Barker i’m 19 and from im from central scotland, i work as a collections advisor monday to friday and a door man on the odd weekend.
How long have you owned this car?
i bought this car brand new in january, previous to this i owned a candy white 9n3
Is there anything unique about the history of this car?
haha yes, this car was a bit of a random buy tbh, i went to see my freind who works at a local vw dealership about a tsi model and then i asked if they had any white ones in and luckily this was ready to go and a week later on December 31st i was the new owner of this, this is why it’s called Project NYE, project new years eve 
What other cars did you consider?
Alot of things to be honest, i used to be a jap car type person but then moved onto euro, but i considered everything from another 9n3 polo to a ep2 civic sport to a renault twingo 133 and even a mini cooper diesel. I looked at a mk3 golf and had my mind set this what was going to be my new car but then somehow i ended up deciding i wanted something newer. My size is always s big issue for me I’m far from small and I like small cars, I used to own a civic eg and my friend told me I looked like donkykong in a civic, so something a sensible size was needed.
What was your objective with this car?
The objective of this car is easy, simple effective mods that make the car stand out. I think i’ve achieved this but right now mk6′s are starting to get onto the scene so i might need to step up my game a little bit
What tuning style would you describe this car as?
Clean/Euro
Who helped you build this car?
My dad and my freinds and other vw enthusiasts:)
What makes your car special?
I personally think its the lack of mods yet the effect what i have done has, I was in Glasgow with a freind who has spent a fair amount of cash on his civic compared to what i’ve done to my golf, he was total shocked at how many people look at the car and comment on it.
What is your favorite part/feature/function?
My favorite part of the car has to be the front bumper, this changed the car so much. People say its my wheels but my bumper just changed the car for me.
Who or what inspired the direction of modifications on this car?
Hmm this is a tricky one, in all honesty i followed Darren Bennet on a Mk6 he built and a few Mk6′s in america but they are all GTi’s and i’d never seen a moddifed non GTi so I had to look at alot of other cars for an infulence looking at Chris Peacock’s Rocco and Mk5, Darren Burt’s Passat, Chris Shah’s Passat and Scott Wardlaw’s Bora
What don’t you like about this car?
My interior, but this will soon change, make way for more mods!
What was your biggest obstacle in building this car?
Personally for me i found that the lack of other moddifed mk6′s to use a refrence i found as the hardest part, not being able to judge wheel sizes, other styling. However the Mk6 scene is growing.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how satisfied are you with the outcome of this project?
6, ill never be fully happy, it’s who i am. I always want more and i always want change.
What would you do to the car if money were no object?
oooo now we are talking im a bit of a brand whore so lets see here Bagyard’s with Accuair managment, Golf R tail lights, Bentley Conteintal Super Sport Seats with matching trimed rear, Bentley Contienital Super Sport Steering Wheel, Lamborghini brakes.18″ BBS Rs’s or Lamborghini Cordelia’s
Who has been your biggest critic of this project?
My biggest critic is myself, i am the worst for doing something then kicking myself and spending ages thinking over and over about it. I got my wheels and for about two weeks when i seen the car i said hmm still not sure.
Who gets to drive this car?
Myself, my dad when I need him to move it. Generally if I’m going on a long drive to a show I insure my passenger so I can split the driving. My best friend Aaron drives it sometimes only so I can see what it looks like rolling
If your car had a motto, what would it be?
Fresh and clean ftw. I don’t really think it would have a motto I just compare my car to that girl you went to school with that was always just plain never the ugly duck but wouldn’t turn heads, you leave school and you meet them a year later and she is amazing and every guy wants her. I feel my cars like this, in january no one would have looked at my car and now I get comments about how it looks when I’m in petrol stations, washing my car and I get people giving me thumbs up and lots of looks.
If you had to name your car, what would you name it?
Haha I have a few friends who like to name their cars and my polo was called Zoe but I’ve never thought of a name for it, but if someone could give me a decent suggestion that would be ace.
