Hey there strangers. My name is Hunter Edmisten. I’m from Greenville, South Carolina. I currently still own a graphics business called HandEGraphix, but I work for Apple as my day job. I’m married to Liz, who lets me do whatever I want with my vehicles. Needless to say, everything is good on the homefront because of this. My other hobbies are Photography, Mountain biking, Fly Fishing, and Guitar. I wanted to thank Euromedian for the coverage as well.
How long have you owned this car?
I’ve owned the car since May of 2009. I finished the bag setup right around the 1 year ownership anniversary.
Is there anything unique about the history of this car?
I drove to Chicago to pick it up because they were the only dealership that had plaid, sunroof, and would take 14.5K in cash.
What other cars did you consider?
WRX sti, Mazda Speed 3, Audi A3
What was your objective with this car?
I went from Rockcrawling in Jeeps with 40″ tires to a small turbo and sport suspension. I guess I was thinking something economical and gas efficient. I met up with my good friends, The Syndicate…and they forced this on me.
What tuning style would you describe this car as?
A mix of everything. All black from the Urban scene, Interlagos interior from the German heritage, and the bags from the Low lifestyle.
Who helped you build this car?
My wife and I did the interior with my buddy Ryan. I drew the interlagos for the trim in Illustrator, the bag setup was myself and The Syndicate Krew and the rest I just bolted up. Maintenance wise, its all Mike Wingard at Steve White Motors who took care of me.
What makes your car special?
I don’t think that it’s special. I just feel like it performs well, turns heads, and attracts all audiences.
What is your favorite part/feature/function?
Turbo or Bags. The Airride was necessary to clear the rigged speedbumps in my neighborhood. My transmission bolts are rounded off from digging concrete. Even now, I don’t raise it though. So I guess the turbo.
Who or what inspired the direction of modifications on this car?
GolfMkv forums, My wife, Syndicate Krew, and my Dad.
What don’t you like about this car?
The dings and dents. The string of dents on the unibody structure from hitting things with a rigid suspension.
What was your biggest obstacle in building this car?
It wasn’t money like most people, because I saved up to buy the pieces, but probably time. I’m pretty busy now and I don’t have time to even take pictures of it anymore.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how satisfied are you with the outcome of this project?
8.675309
What would you do to the car if money were no object?
Stretch the rear out a couple of inches, Respray the outside a dark dark gray, and do a gray with black piping interior.
Who has been your biggest critic of this project?
Myself.
Who gets to drive this car?
Whomever wants to.
If your car had a motto, what would it be?
Black on Black with a touch of Chrome.
If you had to name your car, what would you name it?
It has a name already. It is Schwarz.
What one word best describes your car?
Functional
