Whats good, my name is Benjamin Thoerner and I’m from Dayton/Cincinnati Ohio… I work as a Graphic Designer and in my free time I like to mess around with cars and chicks.
How long have you owned this car?
I’ve owned it about 5 years now… and really just started to care
about “modding” it within the last 2 or so…
Is there anything unique about the history of this car?
Not really… just a bunch of stuff that needed fixing since ive bought it…not counting all the shit ive broken on it…
What other cars did you consider?
None really.. i had a 86 Quantum Syncro Wagon before this one (cooked the motor in college and have been kicking myself in the ass since i got rid of it)
What was your objective with this car?
At firrst i was full on into the OEM+ look of the mk4… it was on Audi Euro A8 wheels, roof rack, oem-navi…yadda yadda… that was fine for a season..but then i wanted a change… i figured i was never gonna get rid of the car…may as well start modding it to the point where i can never get rid of it even if i wanted too….
What tuning style would you describe this car as?
Dunno??? Faux .:R32 ???
Who helped you build this car?
I’ve had a lot of help from a lot of great friends locally, Little-Ianand Mark at EuroFixx here in Cincinnati (they allowed me to take up shop space to shave my bumpers while Ian was pulling the quarters). Zach for letting me drink beer and make a mess in his garage while doing the front fender work, Nick H. for welding up my hood… My other buddy Nick for working on my hatch and getting the shaving done on that.. Nate for letting me use his garage to fix all the other crap that breaks to keep it running strong (…crosses fingers…) KiddieRose, Nolan G. and livinzlyfe…just for all being MK4 forum jerks…
What makes your car special?
Its a 12v VR6 with 197,xxx Miles on it on original clutch and stock chains… (as far as i know, i bought the car with 110k on it.) But i dont think that really counts…
What is your favorite part/feature/function?
I love my wheels…. and also my seats.
Who or what inspired the direction of modifications on this car?
Wow, where to start? I would have to say there have been a lot of peoples cars that have given me inspiration: Wyman’s car first and foremost… his car instantly had me hooked on the pulled fender look….always loved it. Mike Olsen’s car… mr.euro’s (Jon T. …like he needs anymore fame…), Tuckers, Mark from FL, Uncle Buck’s, Mike Houck’s car for sure…. Calvin’s GTI, even though it never left his neighborhood..

What don’t you like about this car?
Same thing as everyone else… its not finished yet.
What was your biggest obstacle in building this car?
Its not finished… so im gonna go with… MONEY.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how satisfied are you with the outcome of this project?
see above… haha Seriously tho… so far, I’m pretty satisfied hows its turning out… ill give it a 5 if i must…
What would you do to the car if money were no object?
I would like to have it finished… and maybe supercharged.
Who has been your biggest critic of this project?
Myself first…then alot of my friends locally. Ill bounce ideas off them and see what they think.
Who gets to drive this car?
I drive it daily at the height shown… ill pretty much let anyone drive it, but most people have second thoughts once i toss them the keys because they are afraid they are gonna break something on her…
If your car had a motto, what would it be?
“it’ll be painted eventually”
If you had to name your car, what would you name it?
She has a name… it’s Gwen… i chose it because it sounds like a name a redheaded girl would have..and this car is my redheaded stepchild… plus ive got a soft spot for gingers…
