Get GOTTI with Drew Savas’s MK2.

Hey, my name is Drew Savas and I’m from Seattle, WA. I am 19 and a full time student at WSU where I am studying to become a mechanical engineer. When I’m not in school I detail cars to fund my hobbies, which are my car (obviously) and photography. Should be getting a Canon 5d soon if some Recaro’s don’t get in the way!

How long have you owned this car?

I have owned it a little over two years now.

Is there anything unique about the history of this car?
Nothing too special, I did find five PBR’s under the spare tire when I bought  it.

What other cars did you consider?
My friends use to make fun of me because I would literally change my  mind everyday about which car I wanted.  I contemplated getting nearly  every car that was less that $5,000 at some point or another.

What was your objective with this car?
To build a car that I think looks good, and fits my style.

What tuning style would you describe this car as?
I would have to say oem+.

Who helped you build this car?
My high school auto shop teacher Mr.Knapp helped a lot. Also my buddy  Norm for letting me use his garage on the rainy days.

What makes your car special?
I haven’t seen too many small bumper mk2’s on gottis, at least here in the  u.s.

What is your favorite part/feature/function?
I really like how the small bumper lips fold up right under the car. While my  friends rip bumpers and lips off.

Who or what inspired the direction of modifications on this car?
Without a doubt it was Eric Shively’s blue mk2 that inspired me to get a  mk2. But the direction of my car is mainly from what I think will look good.

What don’t you like about this car?
I don’t like how below the bumpers is painted black.

What was your biggest obstacle in building this car?
Money and time. I don’t bring the car with me to school, so I only get to  work on it a few months out of the year.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how satisfied are you with the outcome of this project?
As of now, probably a 5. Not anywhere close to being finished

What would you do to the car if money were no object?
Full respray in T-red, Recaro ls’ with cream colored interior, color match the wheel faces in that cream color. Put a g60 super charger on the 16v,  wire tuck and shave the bay.

Who has been your biggest critic of this project?
Definitely myself, I don’t think I will ever be completely happy with it.

Who gets to drive this car?
Pretty much anyone who asks.

If your car had a motto, what would it be?
I’ll fix it later.

If you had to name your car, what would you name it?
Durkoop

What one word best describes your car?
Weird
