Hey. My names Mitun Patel from Des Plaines, IL. I do internet sales full-time for a chain of car dealerships. When I’m not working, I’m usually trying to find something new to do with my car. I also play call of duty when I’m really bored!
How long have you owned this car?
Lets see…I bought her on June 8, 2008, so two years ago.
Is there anything unique about the history of this car?
Not really anything unique. I was looking for a Candy White 5-speed, and lucky for me, this was the only one they had left on the lot!
What other cars did you consider?
I was also looking at the Mazda 3, and sadly a Toyota Yaris and Nissan Versa :facepalm:
What was your objective with this car?
I wasnt really trying to achieve anything with this car. Daily drive it and mod it to my liking.
What tuning style would you describe this car as?
I wanted to build something that turned heads, not just by other tuners, but pretty much everyone who’s driving.
Who helped you build this car?
I had A LOT of help from my friends and some co-workers. I don’t think it’d be where it is now without their input and help.
What makes your car special?
It’s different from the rest. I rarely see any modded Mark 5′s on the road in my area.
What is your favorite part/feature/function?
Probably the suspension. Its a fun toy, and comes in handy. Instead of swerving to avoid stuff on the road, I just jack it up and go right over it.
Who or what inspired the direction of modifications on this car?
A lot of the inspiration I got for my car came off of the forums. I would look at people’s cars, and want to do something similar, but not copy exactly what they did.
What don’t you like about this car?
I hate that the two door Rabbit’s were not available with a sunroof. Of course they have to add it as an option after the 2008 models!
What was your biggest obstacle in building this car?
I’d probably say the tools required to work on it. I used to drive a Nissan, and everything was pretty much metric. The first time I tried to work on it, I thought to myself WTF kind of tool do I need for that!? I have a whole new set of tools to work on my dub.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how satisfied are you with the outcome of this project?
If I had to choose, I’d probably rate it an 8.5.
What would you do to the car if money were no object?
I would love to repaint it some crazy different color and re-do the interior as well.
Who has been your biggest critic of this project?
I guess I’d be considered my biggest critic. I always see things that most other people wouldn’t spot and it drives me crazy!
Who gets to drive this car?
There’s less than a handful of people I let drive my car. I’ve known them for years, and have a lot of trust in them.
If your car had a motto, what would it be?
Fresh to death.
If you had to name your car, what would you name it?
I never really thought of a name for my car. If I absolutely had to, I’d name her Misa, after my favorite asian model.
What one word best describes your car?
Flashy.
