Featured Car: Sam Deiwert’s VANS inspired rabbit.

Hola buddehs! My name’s Sam Deiwert from Berlin, CT. I’m currently attending college for graphic design and I work as a busboy at a restaurant. My paychecks go to my car payments, and the tips go straight into the modifications.
How long have you owned this car?
I’ve owned this car for almost a year and a half now.
Is there anything unique about the history of this car?
Not very unique, but I went to Volkswagen one day looking to buy a new Rabbit. None of them were 4 door or Candy White like I wanted. Just as I was about to take a new car for a test drive I saw my current car sitting in the used lot. I asked if I could instead take a look at this one. It turned out it wasn’t even in the computers yet, the previous owner
had just traded it in! I got lucky there.
What other cars did you consider?
I was also looking at a Mini Cooper, granted they’re awesome car’s I’m glad I went with the Rabbit.
What was your objective with this car?
At first I told myself the modding would never get out of control; maybe some wheels and springs. The mod bug bit me…
What tuning style would you describe this car as?
I like to keep it looking classy yet funky at the same time. It’s also not meant to get places fast, but instead to look good getting there.
Who helped you build this car?
A couple of my buddies really helped me get this car together. When I first got into the modding I didn’t really know how to do much. I couldn’t have done it without Luke, Mike, or Koza.
What makes your car special?
The fact that I’ve worked hard and have something to show for it really makes this car special to me.
What is your favorite part/feature/function?
First of all, nothing sounds close to the sound that the 2.5 makes (besides a VR obviously). Also, I really like my latest “mod”. I covered my whole front lip, sidemarkers, and rearview mirror in Vans stickers.
What don’t you like about this car?
Axle smack… Damn, I need a notch.
What was your biggest obstacle in building this car?
Not guna lie, it has to be my driveway. It took me weeks to find out the sweet spot. Even knowing where it is I still can’t put more than a half tank of gas in my car or else I’ll get hung up.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how satisfied are you with the outcome of this project?
Right now I’ll have to give it an 8.
What would you do to the car if money were no object?
Well, In the near future I’m planning on getting my interior wrapped in Burgundy leather. SHHH don’t tell anyone… Well now the whole interwebz knows. I’d also like to install some headers and get it cammed, just for a little more gurgle.
Who has been your biggest critic of this project?
Mainly me, I’m the one who knows where all the “flaws” are. However it’s mainly just people in my everyday life. I’ve even had people say they hate Volkswagens but love my car.
Who gets to drive this car?
Only some of my closest friends can drive my car. They also have to own a car as low or lower than mine. I won’t even let my parents drive it.
If your car had a motto, what would it be?
Very cliché, but low and slow.
If you had to name your car, what would you name it?
Had to name? She already is! Lucy.
What one word best describes your car?
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
