Featured Car: Adam Woodhams Can you C-C Me?

My name is Adam Woodhams, I’m the owner & founder of Adam’s Rotors and have been building the brand for almost 5 years now…It’s my true passion, mixing right into what I love to do most, modify euros. I’m a photographer as well and shoot the entire product photo, my cars, portraits, and anything else happing in my life. I’m a newly wed, with the most amazing woman I’ve ever met as my wife and my best friend. I have two cats, love beer, guns, get tattooed rather often, and love gadgets. I studied business marketing at SJSU with my BA and love to hustle. I live downtown San Jose, have a few great friends, and live a simple, fun, blessed life….I’m I happy man.

How long have you owned this car?
Well this one i picked up around September of last year I believe? I build em quick and get em up to par as soon as I can…I’m not into cars as they are, i got to build em.

Is there anything unique about the history of this car?
Not so much the history…but the project itself. This is my daily…the adam’s rotors shop car.its a 2010, the 2nd year VW released the cc, and its one of most all round modified cc’s out there for sure. Its interesting building a car this new and then trying to push the envelope before others have done it first. Custom suspension modifications, one-off exhaust systems, tuning, and building proper fit, aggressive wheel sets are some of the obstacles you face…headaches and payoffs all in one.

What other cars did you consider?
I wasn’t really even considering a car, but when i bought my wife’s mk5, i finally saw a cc in person and saw the potential…the cars rather ugly off the lot. I’ve had my share of VAGs including a B6A4 turbo, MK4 20thAE, S Line A3, the cc, and recently an Audi 4000 I’m working on right now. So i found a buyer for the hatch and moved into this one.

What tuning style would you describe this car as and What was your objective with this car?
I’m for sure euro guy. Stretch and poke has always been a part of my cars, slammed, loud, but then I also meet the CA vibe with 19-20″ forged wheels with aggressive widths and clean finishes…I’m a sucker for brushed aluminum. I love me some suede, boost, xenon, and LEDs…but finally satisfying my old school craving with the 4k, its a nice balance between new and old.

Who helped you build this car?

The CC was built by myself, a local shop I don’t really deal with much anymore, my buddy Justin, and my great friend Sam at the AR garage. Big thanks to Eric at Supreme Power for parts, Manu at DPE wheels for both sets on the car and my past ones, Mike at 02 Creations for the headliner, Kurt at babe’e for all my exhausts, Orlando at Auto Innovation for tire mounting, toyo for the T1Rs, and a handful of others for all the love n support thru all my builds…and AR of course, its what everything is for: www.adamsrotors.com

What makes your car special?
Well definitely the stance. There’s been a recent movement I feel with proper offsets and aggressive fitments, but its always been something I feel that makes or breaks a car. Things got 20×9 and 20×9.5″ on there now…but they’re DPEs new 3-piece hidden hardware, and on chrome step lips at that, they look pretty wild. With the euro and the car down on the ground, it’s got a real proper look to it creeping around down, looks more like an $80k car than a midrange dub, i love it…proud of my VW.

What is your favorite part/feature/function?
God i don’t know…I love this car a lot, my fav yet. I think honestly the interior…sitting in the cockpit slamming gears is real nice. I test drove this thing and loved the seats, so we left it fairly simple and sueded out the headliner, pillars, and rear deck lid…all blacked out. Brushed pedals, clean LED match defi boost gauge, and my patented chopped shifter w/a shortshift kit, this thing is a weird mix of big body sedan and a sporty turbo…pretty cool. Sam finally convinced me to do a little stereo, so JL handled a nice sub & amp system we added that brings the bass line in.

Who or what inspired the direction of modifications on this car?
I’ve always tinkered with em. By parents bought me my first car when I was 16, and I got a job to pay for the note and of course mod it. I’ve had a lot of cars since and made each more and more different than it was when i got it…it’s my creative outlet for sure.

So this one, being my 4th VAG, I knew what I was doing with em and wanted it done right all around. Great parts, extreme fit, proper overall feel…and we got it done.

What don’t you like about this car?
It could be lower…but I’m not really an air guy, so i may get some H&R ultralows, that is if i hang onto it for that long…haha. I’d also like to eventually pickup a rear end for it…The gold coast kit doesn’t address the rear valence.

What was your biggest obstacle in building this car?
The tune wasn’t much fun, had to send it off to my boys headquarters in the UK to have it flashed, because at the time the cc’s 2.0t had no flash for it. Other than that it’s been smooth…making the wheel set fit this perfect wasn’t easy, but that’s part of the game.Right now I’ve got a little tire issue with my 235s not holding air, but it’ll be an easy fix.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how satisfied are you with the outcome of this project?
I’m at a 9 id say…bringing the front end down just a bit will make it perfect, though i fear I’ll not like the rake…the cars dead level as it stands.

What would you do to the car if money were no object?
Sell it and buy my Panamera Turbo.

Who has been your biggest critic of this project?
Vortex…buncha people who love to critique online, but either have no idea what it takes to actually build a car like this, have one, or just love to hate…you know the usual. I get a lot more love for it though, but in the end I could care less…my wife, my best friends, and my business all stand behind it…it’s a great car.

Who gets to drive this car
Anyone really…for ride to dinner or around town. Sam can handle it, couple of my buddies too….but with super stretched lowpro tires like this, most don’t want to…not for that long at least, its a big responsibility.

If your car had a motto, what would it be?
Dubfamily, just like the plate. true VAG…i call it my Audi with VW price tag.
Its everything you love about VW, rocks the euro feel, and drives and feels like an Audi. Its dope.

If you had to name your car, what would you name it?
I don’t know…never named cars. Just refer to it as “the cc”

What one word best describes your car?
Proper.
